  1. I agree 100% with Gab's point at 0:36 because a player should be judge by their individual performances not the silverware the team wins because that of course is the true assesment. For me Cr7 is the best ever but even if portugal hadn't won Euro 2016 it wouldn't make a difference to me because So many times in Tournaments and Qualification stages he has dragged portugal and been the difference maker for them. It's the same for LM10 because in these last 4 or 5 years he's had some pretty good performances and even if Brazil beat Argentina it wouldn't have made any difference because of all the other stuff he did in the tournament which was very decisive.

  2. He did not score the winning goal and he missed a sitter! What if he was tackeling, he is a striker and not a defender. Big deal they won one 1 in 20 years. Brasil is the best and " even a blind squirrel find a nut sometimes.

  3. Man won Brazil their first and only Olympic Gold medal which no other Brazil team could do in over 65+ years and won them the Confederations Cup. They were able to win the Copa twice in the last 15 years, how is that a failure? Argentina hadn't had a senior major trophy outside of Olympic Gold in 28 years, Neymar's not in the same boat as Messi was Brazil haven't had a huge trophy drought.

  4. The Media just makes such useless and senseless titles just to get views, they did the same with Messi and now Neymar Jr, The british media has been a disgrace to football. There are 12 year old football fans who understand things better than them

  5. Neymar can't play alone, individuality can only bring you so far, he did a few very good attempts by himslef but they can just foul him and its over. That's both his fault for beeing a bit too selfish at times but also the team's for not suporting him. The same thing hapened at PSG. His playstyle is better suited for a winger, he needs to play closer to the box where fouling him actually has consequences, on the midfield they will faul him all day.

Brazil was terrible going forward the entire competition, Brazil needs more creative players on the midfield, and it can't be Neymar responsible for that, I don't like him on that role because he is too selfish to be a playmaker.

  6. ESPN FC (Dan Thomas in particular) has it in for Ronaldo. I just forward the video every time he brings him up for no reason. Stevie Nicols and Craig Burley are the two people that I watch this channel for. Moreno is also very objective. The moment these three are not there, I will unsubscribe and leave Dan Thomas and ESPN to rename this Channel to "Ronaldo Fan Channel" and leave it at that.

  7. Just imagine Ronaldo and Messi with a 15 year gap in age and they would each have 9 or 10 ballon d’ors

  8. No, he's close to if not overtaken the most goals scored for Brazil. And you have to remember he's been injured for three of brazils previous tournaments so its really hard to say he has given he hasn't fully been with a tournament a lot of the time.

  9. You cant fall short in the final. Losing the final is not shameful. Losing the final is circumstantial

  10. I don't want to live in the past but Brazil at begining of this century had a team that had Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Roberto Carlos, Rivaldo, Kaka, Cafu, Roque Jr., Dida, Juninho, Denilson and Gilberto Silva. Somehow this Brazil team post 2014 has consistently paled in comparison to its former grandeur and awesomeness.

  11. Why? He won them Olympics in 2016. And still have WC next year. I think the coaching is the problem. They played him as a ST. Play him the Lw and let him play make and penetrate defense from there.

  12. Neymar is the most overrated Player ever. Never turns up on big matches. Cannot win the big trophies on his own. Doesn't take responsibility for bad performances

  13. All these so called pundits are ridiculous. The fact is brazil squad is nowhere good enough. Tite is at fault as well with his squad selection. Which coach will pick Fred and paqueta for NT? Brazil simply can't just rely on Neymar to deliver magic every game. How is brazil going to handle the Europeans when they can't even beat Argentina? Fred and paqueta should never be near NT. Really surprised by tite not selecting fernandinho(for this tournament), allan, Arthur, Bruno guimares. Heck I would even select Matheus fernandez to try him in an att box to box role since brazil lack one. Brazil will never win a wc if they did not have a decent att box to box mf. As for Cb, why no Gabriel? Why no rodrygo and Anthony in rw? As much as tite has done a decent job, he needs to go.

  14. For a while now Brazil lack a genuine goalscorer(striker), in fact after Ronaldo they had none that's why they have been failing in major tournaments.Neymar tries his best, good to see him keeping his cool and getting on with the job even after being fouled so many times, Argentina won't have finished the game with 11 players if not for the ref. They need a poacher someone good with the head and shots in and around the box. Cannot expect the midfielders, wingers, playmakers to do the job of scoring as well. There is no hope in next years World Cup unless they sort out this problem, otherwise they need to play fast passes and combination play among the attackers to open up opponents(in absence of a No. 9) similar to Spain which is not that easy, need lot of running, skill and understanding among the players.

  15. I must confess,it was the longest 90 minutes of my life….I cried like a baby at the full time whistle..and I'm not an Argentine…I'm a Leo Messi and Argentina fan since 2010…and the joy of finally watching Leo winning with his country was emotional for me…and not just for me.just look at the videos circulating in social medias from India to America to Africa to Buenos Airies..World wanted this to happen and even Brasilians supported Messi in this final

  16. Here we go again, one guy succeeds so they start picking on the next guy straight away, it’s like an endless cycle, let’s not start this with Neymar hey? it’s boring

  17. so neymar is the next target? because you can't blame messi anymore you start to blame neymar? football is a team sport guys, be consistent

  18. Neymar played well at times BUT I feel he plays more with heart than head sometimes. Arg targeted him and I think at times he could have released the ball quicker once he had drawn in Arg defenders. Brazil can't seem to integrate Neymar properly. Definitely suffered without Jesus.

  19. This is the same logic that people have used for Lionel Messi over the years. An individual can propel a team to a certain level, but to win a trophy, it needs an entire team. 🙂

  20. Argentina won after 28 years by a young coach. Old fashion Brazil never have young and clever coaches. Tite is too negative and too conservative. No chance with old Tite. They are getting worse every year.

  21. This guy doesn’t have a clue what he is talking about! Neymar put his heart and soul in that game and if you guys couldn’t see that watch the replay you’ll see why everyone in the comments are backing neymar!??‍♂️

  22. Doing this kind of thing to players makes no sense. Football is a team sport. Star players get the reputations they have because they play very well (well, except for Pedri, it appears, who people decided was a star, through no fault of Pedri's, before he did anything, before he has done anything – indeed, before he stopped sucking – but I digress) and indeed do great things for their teams. Single players do not, however, win titles.

Messi did not win a South America title. Argentina's football team did. Messi is the backbone of that team.

Teams win when the corporate overlords of football and their marketing people give them an opportunity to win. Given that opportunity, if someone can cash in a goal during a permitted-scoring period at the key moment in a given match and the the opposing team has missed its opportunity (if it had a goal-permitted period at all). A lot has to work out for a team to win a title, that is, including the utterly corrupt bits.

Blaming or anointing as savior a single player for the outcome of a tournament is silliness. By all means, praise players for having good performances. Greatness comes over a long course.

Messi was as great before this title as he is after.

A title is not the measure of a player's stature in the game. Titles are nice to have, and credit accrues for being part of wins. The latest news cycle isn't a basis for judging a player's career, one way or another.

Which is to say, Brazil's great players – including Neymar – remain so after finishing second in this tournament. They would have remained so had they won, and they would have remained so had they dropped out earlier in the Copa America.

  23. Next does he deserve to wear the arm band…. No.
Give it somone else like Casemiro or Marquinhos or Ederson.

  24. Neymar isn't a team player. Tite needs to understand that if he's building his team around Neymar then it's going to fail.
Neymar has talent however everything can't be routed through him all the time. Portugal face the same situation with CR7 too.
Use your star player an extra bonus not as a hub through which you plan your strategy.

  25. Neymar inheriting the blame Messi got when he was the only one trying, literally the same fucking story

  26. You say it’s a team sport and still blaming Neymar. Come on , he was the best player in the final !

  27. Neymar did everything he could, end of story. I think he was heartbroken, not so much for loosing the final, but because he knows there won't be many more chances for him to win with Brazil. Neymar already has a massive history with injuries, and will most likely not stand in many more finals with his country

  28. Neymar will get his chance. But for now, be glad Messi finally has his international achievement legacy secured.

  29. We wanted Messi to win because we didn't want Messi to get any more abuse from the Argentine fans. They have questioned his love for the country, and even claim that Maradona loved Argentina more. The latter being the most ridiculous because when Maradona (May he rest in peace) himself would defend Messi from all his critics. Maradona didn't question Messi's love for his country but a lot of Argentina did. At least with Neymar, he can retire with no trophies and won't have the Brazilian people accuse him of not loving his nation and not being Brazilian enough.
